Gaining Weight after almost 6 weeks of eating clean

I have been eating paleo since January 1st. I didn't have much weight to lose 5'3" 110lbs to start out with. I dropped down to about 107 after the first 3 weeks. For the past 1.5 weeks I have been consistently gaining weight back. I do know that muscle weighs more than fat, my activity level has increased some. I was working out 7 days a week once a day but Ive added double workouts on a few days now. I just have so much energy! I've cut back my tree nut intake and limit myself to 2 pieces of fruit a day.

A general day for me food wise is this:

Coffee Apple or Banana with almond butter unsweetened coconut flakes Salad with chicken and veggies, olive oil and balsamic vinegar Steamed veggies and Meat portion with mustard

I treat myself to homemade paleo chocolate bars which are made form coconut oil, cocoa powder, crushed almonds and a drop of honey.

I don't feel like I am eating in excess, most of the time I am hungry.

Please help!

Yeah cut out the nut butters or at least reduce them as much as possible; they're a problem for some not to mention highly addictive! Good luck and post a comment in a while and let me know how you get on :)

5"4 117lbs female. I weighed about 110 in November when I began eating paleo. I try to limit my carbs to under 50g daily (because I'm a type 1 diabetic). I sleep 8 hours a night with the ocasional 30 minute nap during the day. I do a lot of walking (1hour+) per day but I have yet to create a good work out schedule.

WIll do. I love baked potatoes so that will be easy for me to incorporate! I do consume nuts, and nut butters....actually I was consuming quite a bit of those until I noticed the gain, and that is when I decided to cut back. Thanks for the feedback!

I second this! Stress and hunger trigger hormones associated with weight gain. Relax and eat well for a few days - eat healthy, paleo meals until you're full (not 'til you're stuffed. It will boost your metabolism and regulate your hormones.

Do you still have noticeable fat or something? Because 5'3" 107 lbs doesn't sound like much excess to lose... Maybe your body's telling you, "I'm fine at this weight." Cause every girl I know seems to think they're fat, even perfectly skinny ones.

"I do know that muscle weighs more than fat, my activity level has increased some."

See, you know! In addition to what others have said, you may be gaining muscle, not fat. Try using a tape measure around key points like waist, hips, thighs, and/or upper arms. This may give you a better idea of your body comp than just the pounds on the scale.

Yeah, take a diet break! Take a break! Your body is incredibly adept at adapting to changing stresses and lowered caloric intake. If you dont take a break and eat normal for a week or crappy for a weekend your setting yourself up for failure.

hop on over to bodyrecomposition.com and search for "of whooshes and squishy fat"

So what people arent telling you is that every time u give yourself an insulin shot. the insulin is telling your body to hold on to fat. so normal person when he or she eats sugar or carbs there body produces insulin and does the same thing. but since you have to be on insulin it doesnt matter if you go low carb or not. so try switching up injection sights. or go a pump witch will release less more often. hope that helps

I had to cut out all coconut products, nuts, nut butters and all forms of sugar when I decided to lose weight.

You're stressing the body with too much exercise and perhaps eating too much fructose. Cut the fruit and chiiiiilllll maaaaan! If you want to keep up that level of exercise, include some safe starches. Have a potato now and then, some parsnips or dare I say, white rice gasp. You also didn't mention much fat in your daily plan there. What are your macros?

I'd definitely say, cut down the exercise and see what happens and/or swap the fruit and sugar for starches and eat some fat!

I am gaining weight too! I think my caloric intake has gone up a little as my carb intake had dropped. Any tips?

If you're working out so much it might be making you hungry. Have you tried taking a week off exercise and seeing what your hunger is like when you do that?
