Whats the deal with Barley Malt

hi guys

what do you think of barley malt,is it bad or is all sugar the same?

Well, you're right, "all sugar is sugar" and added sweeteners are not ideologically paleo, so to speak.

However, you have a larger problem with barley malt: it's barley, it's wheat. Since malt isn't refined as much as table sugar, it still has a large amount of the barley's proteins in it, including gluten.

If you're looking to make yourself some faileo / paleo baked treats and need a sweetener, consider yacon root syrup or rice syrup (if you're into rice) ... or heck: just normal, refined table sugar.

Overall, you're not helping your paleo endeavor by eating high added sugar foods, so I suggest finding foods to make that don't require added sweeteners.

This is why certain manufacturers add it to their products.

Most annoyingly, Lindt has started adding this crap to their flavored chocolate bars.
