Is "Dirty Electricity" Polluting Your Body?

Answered on August 19, 2014
Created April 15, 2010 at 3:05 PM

Has anyone heard of dirty electricity or electrical pollution as having negative consequences for health--particularly sleeping?

Here's a list of some articles I came across. Can't vouch for their accuracy one way or another.

Glenn, my comment was nothing but a statement of the obvious. Every community has its trolls and extremists.

Tom M, John R, Remember that a question is just a... question. Which is the whole point of this board. I think both of your comments are a little insulting.

"soon I shall be left with grass-fed beef and living in a teepee in the wilderness!" And somebody here would tell you that your teepee isn't sufficiently paleo. It's just the way certain people in this community seem to roll.

I'm neither as it happens, have a perfect glucose metabolism and just want to be reasonably healthy to the end, whenever that may be. But I AM a chronic worrier, always have been!

It seems that the majority of people who get involved with Paleo are either completely scared of death or completely broken. I think a little less worrying would be the best thing for a lot of the posters

I was taking D3, 10,000IU for a year and had to stop after a very high lab reading and soft-tissue calicifications. Wasn't supplementing K2 but was eating a load of grass-fed butter so thought that had me covered. Have ordered CLO and high vitamin butter oil and continue to take 2,000IU/day. Have no hypo symptoms that I know of, I lose weight quite easily and am maintaining at the moment. Maybe I should add in some iodine as a hedge?

sarah-ann Intermittent depression sounds like either low serum Vit D3 or hypothyroidism or both.

Very fair point, I was hasty in my posting, sorry OP! I just read it and went NOOO!! I can't worry about anything else! I do believe that sugar, grains and veg oil are 90% of the story but I do suffer from intermittent depression so am always on the lookout for that extra 10%.

The big joke among RF engineers is that invariably neighbors begin calling to complain about interference from a new tower installation before the transmitters are even turned on.

Enjoy the fish, it's good food. I think that stressing about your sardines will do you far more harm than than the oil with them ever could :)

I'm cancelling out the negative vote you got (thanks to whoever got my back!) because I can feel where you are coming from. You are right, that this lifestyle should be about reducing stress, not finding more things to stress about. At the same time, I don't think that should foreclose interesting questions being posted here... which may turn out be unfounded. We just need to keep them in perspective.

No there is no good evidence of any effects on your health. Many factors affect getting a good nights sleep however unless you are actually being electrocuted electricity is not one of them.

There are people who would like to convince you that electromagnetic radiation is a threat so that they can sell you expensive solutions to protect you from it.

The research in that link is full of possible associations and poorly controlled interventions carried out by people who want it to be true.

This article is a good overview of the subject if you want more information http://www.skepdic.com/emf.html

I'm sorry, I know you mean well, but do we really need something else to be paranoid about?

We seem to be close to turning Paleo into a complete headfuck, pardon my French.

Last week I found myself eating some lovely wild caught canned sardines, logged on here only to be told that the oil in sardines is rancid when canned. I can't win!!

Sometimes the more I know the less and less I can eat, soon I shall be left with grass-fed beef and living in a teepee in the wilderness!

I don't know much about the subject and am just not really worrying about electromagnetic radiation that I can't control, such as cell towers.. However, I do think that it's worth being aware of on the smaller scale.

I have a clock that communicates with an sensor outside to report indoor and outdoor temps. Originally, I set up the clock on my nightstand and I spent the next week getting absolutely horrible sleep. I'm a total champ at sleeping so this was weird for me. I moved the clock across the room and instantly, my sleep was all better, totally normal. The clock was the only thing that changed in my sleep getting worse and then better.

So, I'd say if you are having trouble sleeping, it's worth moving any electronics that are near your head and seeing if that helps out at all. In addition to the long checklist of other factors you should be looking at, naturally.
