Is cellulose bad?

I asked whether I had to eat the whole probiotic capsule. Seems like I have to. The capsule is made of cellulose? Is that harmful to the body?

Well if you've ever eaten vegetables or fruit, then you've eaten cellulose. Since you're still posting, I'm guessing you're not dead yet ;)

Cellulose is of plant origin http://antoine.frostburg.edu/chem/senese/101/consumer/faq/what-is-cellulose.shtml

I don't know what the big deal is about swallowing your probiotics whole. It's like debating whether you should drink your water cold or room temp.

After taking 3 mos. off of vitamins & supplements, I started adding them back--and discovered through process of elimination that cellulose capsules give me migraine and burning stomach within 30 min. of consumption. It's my worst edible trigger to date (others are eggs, onions, pineapple, vanilla extract). The capsules contained microcrystalline cellulose--I think that must be different from regular cellulose in plants. Incidentally, I also get migraines from generic Ambien tablets (but not name-brand). Anything in a gelatin capsule does not give me migraines.
