Im trying to heal my gut after 7 years of IBS, I'm paleo so no wheat, dairies, milk and legumes for me, but My goal is to follow a kind of scd - low fodmaps diet.. With a problem.. Sugars gravins! After i wake up, after a meal and expecially after dinner I ve strong desire of something sweet like dark chocolate.. That I eat a lot everyday and which is stopping my healing process... It's stronger then me.. How could I do?

It has taken ten months to heal them on paleo. In the last 4 or 5 months, I learned about the beef broth. I think that the broth really helped speed up the healing. I now do paleo via The Perfect Health Diet by Paul Jaminet. I love that plan. I have absolutely no cravings. I have heard that it sometimes takes up to two years to heal the gut. I drink phour salts in my distilled water all day long (4 to 6 liters a day), three with phour salts, three with chlorophyll and puriphy drops. www.phmiracleliving.com

I don't eat any carbs for breakfast. Most carbs I get at night - raw cucumbers and a carrot usually. I am tired of boiled carrot and zucchini.

that's interesting your hands were a sign of your leaky gut. my hands look terrible. always have scratches on them from rashes and are so dry and bleed often.

I'd agree with Angelina. I'd been eating a moderate amount of carbs on an anti-candida diet before going paleo, and had also experimented with the insane high fruit raw vegan diet (doh!) which just ramped up the candida again. I'd moved back in with my parents for a few weeks before moving abroad and they always have lots of sweet things around and it was impossible to resist on the anti-candida diet because i was always hungry and thinking about food all the time, probably due ot having a moderate amount of carbs making me crave more. Since going paleo I snack on coconut oil or creamed coconut, or even just put a couple of spoons of olive oil in water and drink that. I'm finding that the fats in the diet are really stopping me feeling hungry so this diet feels like it can be long-term without driving me mad thinking about food every minute.

Also Glutamine can help heal the gut along with slippery elm.

I used to have the same problem. Try having a teaspoon of coconut oil or a pat of butter instead. The cravings stopped for me with this. At first I just started to eat less chocolate or sugar, weaning my way off of it. The coconut oil and butter really helped. I am sugar free for a long time now and the skin on my hands, which was all cracked and bleeding deeply, are healed. That means that my gut healed first. My hands were a direct sign of what was going on inside. I make beef broth at least once a week and sip on that after meals when I have cravings, too. that really was helpful.

The video will explain a lot about how this helps you heal.

Also, water with lemon squeezed into it helped.

Go for eating less and less of the chocolate each day and more and more of what I suggested. It is amazing to live cravings free. That life can be your life, too. Good luck! And happy healing!

Chocolate used to be my vice. I was a chocoholic at one time.

The way I healed my cravings is by going very low carb. I eat less than 25 carb grams per day. If I feel a craving it means my bacteria is acting up again and I take some herbal antibiotics. They kill everything - even the strongest desire for chocolate.

Good luck! Don't worry - you are going to make it!
