Does going to the supermarket really count as hunter-gathering?

I live in the city. Though I've been raised in rural environments, I now live in New York, and have gone paleo to improve my health and enjoy my life more. But does going to a supermarket for produce, nuts, fish and meat really count as hunter-gathering?

Who's reenacting? Maybe "emulating" is closer to what "moving to get your food" represents.

Reenactment means to mimic the paleo HG lifestyle just for the sake of mimicking. The word 'paleo' is just a metaphor.

As long as you bring a spear and keep low and quiet when approaching the butcher counter. Try to camouflage yourself behind that lady's cart full of sugary cereal. When you sense an opportunity, burst out from behind the cart and sprint full-force towards the striploins, all while letting out your battle cry at full volume. Stab the largest steak in sight before it has a chance to run away. Don't forget to wear your loincloth.

I've seen 'reenactment' a few times on here. Can you explain?

I think it can count as "gather," but the label doesn't matter to me anyway because it's not about reenactment.

To me it depends on how far you walk, and I'm not being facetious. If it's from the car or subway stop to the nearest grocery it's not far enough. If it takes 15 minutes or more on foot or bike I'd call it gathering in the paleo sense.

Picking berries will help get you closer to that...
