Coming off antibiotics, tips to regain some control of gut health an flora as quickly as possible.

Looking for some hacks/tips on what to do after finishing up a course of antibiotics. (Keflex rx 8 days) in the hope of restoring gut flora and health to nearest maximal as possible. Thanks, Liam

+1 I drink water kefir every day and eat home-made yogurt. My gut is very happy!

As soon as I'm done with the antibiotics prescription, I'd start downing all sorts of probiotics (e.g. FloraStor) and fermented foods - fermented by myself if possible. e.g. yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchee, etc.

I just came off a recent week of Cipro. While I was on it I took one dose with breakfast and one with dinner. With lunch I took two of the Forastor pills. Florastor is classified as a probiotic, but isn't actually bacteria, so theoretically it should be effective even while on antibiotics. While I was actually on the Cipro, I had no digestive issues. If anything, I was constipated. No dairy for me, so I stayed away from fermented dairy products. I got back onto my regular probiotic, taking one a day with breakfast along with one Florastor with dinner. I also made bone broth, and drank a couple of cups a day. Two weeks out, and things are very much back to normal.
