Does anyone know if the halal animals are fed corn or grass in the USA? I know that in Muslim countries they are fed grass but I recently watched "Food Inc" and now I'm kind of paranoid >__> I know technically in the Koran it says that livestock should be fed "grass" but I can see people trying to misinterpret it.
I live in Washington DC and the best kind of meat available is halal (also I'm Muslim so I try to eat halal as much as I can).

Halal is more of the process of butchery than it is what it's fed. Though some butchers who produce halal products do care about how the animals are produced.

This is late in the game, but I know that there are some gras fed halal farms close to DC/Virginia area. Good luck with everything!

Halal is only halal under the conditions mentioned in the Qu'ran. Easy part is this: (1) carrion, (2) running blood, (3) the meat of pigs, for it is CONTAMINATED, and (4) the meat of animals blasphemously dedicated to other than god.
Now force feed Najisb (filth) (aka: feces, swine flesh and alcohol (EX: KOBE BEEF IS HARAM) to animals make their flesh unlawful for you to eat.
Mistreatment of the animals also makes them uneatable: foie gras= haram.
Now the way animals are raised in most parts of the states is very filty so you should beware of it.
Also since technology allows you to make the animal bleed without letting them suffer through the old zibiha way, muslims should learn to leave tradition and follow the book smartly.
And sorry for my bad english, i am french you see.
