Increasing male facial hair growth

Answered on August 19, 2014

I know that the lack or reduced facial hair growth in men can be connected with a number of things. But has anybody here out of those who had this problem managed to significantly improve it?

Thank you!

Minoxidil often increases facial hair but needless to say, it's not paleo.

Shaving more isn't something you should be asking for.

I can say that since going paleo, I have noticed that the hair on my head seems to be a bit thicker and my beard seems to grow in a bit more full, but I don't know of any specific things who can do to enhance facial hair growth. A lot of it is genetic. For instance, Native Americans and Asians often have very little facial hair. It could just be in the genetic cards you're dealt. A friend of mine has absolutely no facial hair and little to no arm/leg hair. His dad and brothers are the same way. But take heart, it's not the worst genetic quirk in the world!

A lack of DHT production through childhood, but more importantly during puberty, can limit facial hair development (as well as other aspects of male puberty), in which case you're somewhat stuck with what you have. A diet high in phytoestrogens (soy, flax, beans, licorice root, green tea etc) will lower DHT levels (often these are used to treat prostate issues in older men, but we NEED DHT in large amounts early on in life) in anyone of any age. Raw grass fed dairy products will boost DHT production and is great for growing children if the can digest it (which is also why diary speeds up balding for some people).

I've heard of some people gaining some facial hair after taking elk antler velvet or deer antler velvet. The IGF-1 seems to kickstart puberty if you didn't go through it fully earlier on in life.

As previous posters said though, it can be genetic too, however genes in certain cultures are affected by dietary habits, so certain Asian countries that eat a lot of soy could potentially be connected to their lack of facial hair.

The hair on my balls has grown substantially since I started eating Paleo to the point where I have trouble fitting it into my underwear, I'm talking yards of hair, it is ridiculous. Sometimes it peeks out of the bottom of my pants and people stare at it and I just say "Sorry I have a very hairy scrotum."

I am 26 and People make fun of me and say I can't grow facial hair because of inbreeding. Its hard to get a girlfriend that's over18 because I look like I'm 15. Gaining respect at work is difficult because I look like a child.

It's not necessarily a "problem", for example I'm part native and haven't got a prayer of having a decent beard. It's just genetics.

a solid part of it is genetics and how you ate during puberty.

I find that since I have started eating more bacon, my facial hair grows fuller and faster.

If I don't eat bacon, it takes twice as long and isn't full at all.

Solution? Man up and eat lots of bacon.

I'll have to be honest. When I clicked the link...I thought it was actually about FACIAL growth and I was thinking: ummmmmm...Steroids? HGH? That will cause facial growth. LOL
