Looking for good book recommendations about the gut.

I was really interested in reading The Second Brain by Michael Gershon, but then I worried it might be a little over my head when I read some of the reviews. Also, it was published in 1999, and surely we've learned since then?
I have The Paleo Solution by Mr. Wolf and also Nora Gedgaudas's Primal Body, Primal Mind. I haven't had a chance to dive into either of them, though I've referenced them for specific topics. So if there are good sections in those I should look at, let me know.
Anything else out there I should check out?

I second this book.
Ah, yes. Thanks for the reminder.
If you're interested in scientific material, June 2012 has been a popular month on gut bacteria.
Yes! I've been loving it. Exactly what I've been looking for.
Digestive Wellness by Elizabeth Lipski was pretty good. It covers a range of symptoms, causes and remedies for gut conditions.
Thanks! It's looking like 2012 will be the year of the journey through the gut with all these recommendations. :)
I would also recommend Breaking the Vicious Cycle, which was a kind of precursor to GAPS, based on the original Specific Carbohydrate Diet, which, as far as I know, was the first big recognition that a lot of psychological and emotional disorders were born in the gut.
Thank you, Amy!
How about Gut Sense by Konstantin Monastyrsky?
Hadn't heard of it, thanks for the tip!

I was really disappointed with The Second Brain. I had hoped it would have a lot of information but it ended up mostly being gossipy about the people in his lab. I didn't really learn much about the enteric nervous system from it. I'm really looking forward to the answers to your question.
