Is "Prescript Assist" probiotic safe and effective?

It would be great to have a full thread dedicated to this one soil based organism probiotic. Some say the bacteria can mutate and become dangerous. Others say it just mimics eating the dirt on plants and miraculously heals gut damage.

I know of only 2 studies with such a microorganism and leonardite mix :

I consider using it myself also, but there is contradictory information that makes me think, I think it's short and worth reading:

Good timing as my bottle arrived on Monday (From Amazon.co.uk) and I definitely felt a little discomfort in my guts the first time (But then I did slam down two capsules straight away. I took it as a good sign there are actually viable bacteria in there) but since then all has been well and without wanting to go into too much detail all 'activites' have been improved (And were pretty good to start off with - I ordered it out of curiosity on the gut/brain connection. I'm currently replying from Nirvana)

This is anecdotal / n = 1 but I can tell you Prescript Assist is the only effective probiotic I've found for myself. This became even more apparent after I stopped taking it and went from 4 on the bristol stool chart to 2 in less than a week. This was quickly remedied by taking Prescript Assist again. It also eliminated a lot of digestive discomfort I was experiencing such as bloating and gas.

Based on my research, the questions of safety seem to be largely unfounded.

I would suggest visiting a qualified health professional. My Naturopath told me to give it a try as she was interested in the outcome. I wrote a blog post about SBOs, and you will also note my link to Chris Kresser's website, another practitioner who also promotes Prescript Assist.

Studies show that the product appears to be quite safe, but again, discuss with a qualified health professional. There is also another SBO probiotic called Primal Defense, and it has both SBO and the traditional strains you normally see in other probiotics.
