pls help me hack my irregularities, i eat a lot of veggies, both cooked and raw, fatty fish, and lean meats. Lately i have been extremely irregular, maybe going twice/week smoothly. I have tried Psyllum Husk fiber caps with no success, and this past week, eating Saukraut for the probiotics, but no good, the only thing that seems to work are senna-based colon cleansers but it gives me discomfort and gas..and I know that it is not good to rely on this as it can damage the colon. Also i supplement with Natural Calm every night. When I first started this, it made me quite regular but lately it hasn't been doing anything. Any ideas? Would a probiotic supplement (pill-based) help?

Normal amount, just as much I'd use for olive oil. I use unrefined virgin coconut oil btw, because that's the one that has the antimicrobial/antifungal abilities.

This is just a suggestion as I don't know any other details about you.

Maybe you can try eating a bit more starchy carbohydrate rich foods. Boiled potato, white rice, plantain etc.

A small amount of the starch escapes your digestion and can help feed your bacteria and generate butyrate in your colon improving its functioning.

Eating a cold boiled potato that have been cooked and then left to go cold is a good way of getting more of the starch into you colon.

I suggest this because you say you are eating lots of other raw, cooked and fermented vegetables so I expect you are getting plenty of other soluble vegetable fibers already.

Make sure you're not stressed. Digestion is shut down when you are in fight-or-flight mode.

I had diarrhea for 10 years with IBS, switched to Paleo, and the diarrhea stopped, but the constipation started (with a once-a-week "explosion" of diarrhea for the body to get rid of what the rest of the week couldn't). I fixed all that with adding coconut oil for cooking, double-dose of a multi-probiotic before going to sleep (I use iFlora), and with eating less fruit. If you're doing dairy, switch to lactose-free.

Get your genotype from Peter D'Adamo and possibly reduce meal frequency. Ie, an eating window, one meal a day etc. I eat only at night and have a little blueberries during the day, my constipation is totally resolved on this.

Try a cup of stingingnettle-tea three times a day. Works like a charm but make sure its purely stingingnettle, no additives.
