Cereal, hurting our nation's children's health one bowl at a time?

Ever since I could think rationally for myself I was believed to be sensible, trying to eat relatively healthy, exercising, studying in elementary school to not doing hardcore drugs in high school and college.

I feel like I've been deceived, I thought all the vitamins in my captain crunch, fruity pebbles, and cinnamon toast crunch were a part of a "balanced breakfast." As the commercials state. I ate cereal pretty much EVERYDAY I think it could possibly lead to a unhealthy gut flora.

Just how unhealthy do yall think these cereals are for the children of our nation?

Here's an article which I think are other unhealthy choices and agree with: http://www.activebeat.com/diet-nutrition/the-10-worst-foods-to-feed-your-children/

It's good that people are waking up to the truth. BTW, I ran across this excellent article about the history of cereals, which you may enjoy: http://www.humansarenotbroken.com/the-sleazy-story-of-cereals-success/

And yes, we have all been lied to. The thing about conventional wisdom is that it's easily manipulated by The Big Lie.. For those who don't know and don't want to click on the link, in a nutshell, if you tell a big lie, often enough, eventually people will believe it.

There are lots of these in terms of the Standard American Diet (SAD): i.e. cholesterol will kill you, butter is bad for you, so eat margarine or you'll die, red meat will kill you, veganism is healthy, soy is healthy, cereal is healthy, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, have lots of little meals throughout the day or your energy will drop and you'll lose your muscles, etc.

What advertising dollars can do is just amazing, though it is pure evil.

Cereal is Brave New World food. Avoid AT ALL COSTS. This is one of my favorite pictures:

http://culturepopped.blogspot.com/2011/10/capn-corn-starch-sugar-diabetic-bear.html

Even if a person eats grains, once you heat them, mash them, bleach them, add sugar, and extrude them at high heat, you've killed any possible nutritious value.

When people tell me they feed their kids cereal for breakfast, I usually tell them to at least switch to ice cream, because it's healthier...

For all CW people say about cereal, I really do not think it's all that great. It's just toxic grains and additives and maybe artificial colors and maybe sweeteners that have been fortified beyond recognition because people today don't eat real food. There are still people in my house who eat cereal, and one day I was cleaning the kitchen and I saw a box of cereals that said "excellent source of vitamins B6, B12, Niacian, Riboflavin, calcium, iron, and folic acid" I yelled at the cereal box "That's because ye fortify the crap out of it, ye numpty manufacterers!" (gee, I wonder what I put in my bone broth that makes me yell at cereal boxes)

When I was a kid I tried to avoid eating dry breakfast cereals. They caused me a lot of trouble as an adult though. My gut flora did fine with them, so fine that I became obese and T2 diabetic from the carbs I overloaded my system with. I believed in the benefits of the vitamins and fiber, but only got the downside from all the bowls I ate.
