Well, I'm in a bit of a rut. I don't know what to do in the meantime, my appointment with the G.I specialist is 3 weeks away! I've got... (i've put a ? next to the symptoms that could or could not have to do with candida)

  • Chronic constipation
  • Bloating
  • Stomach pain
  • occasional full body itchiness
  • occasional itchy eyes (?)
  • too much vaginal discharge
  • thirstiness ( ? )
  • fatigue
  • irritability
  • shortness of breath/panic attack ( had this only once)
  • trouble sleeping, has to wait for the pain to go away before I sleep
  • Gas, burping at odd times/flatulence
  • Chest pain from pressure of gas in stomach.
  • asthma ( ?) occasionally

It's interrupting my schooling and I don't know what I can do in the meantime. I've been on and off laxatives for the last three months, and only about a week ago these symptoms became more pronounced. So i've stopped taking laxatives because i know it'll just make the situation worse.

Please help ! :(

Sorry I should have said what I eat in a day. Recently I added brown rice ( soaked ) because it's convenient for me as I'm a student, to get a bit more calories in. ( but in no way brown rice caused this issue) The foods I eat are ( changed recently due to research on FODMAPS) bok choi spinach ( frozen) Brown rice ( got mixed messages about it helping candida or making it worse) Eggs Meat ( going less recently because worried about it making constipation worse) Yogort with lactase supplement ( heard about probiotic benefits) occasional dark chocolate A few macadamias/almonds here and there.

oh dear! for the last 3 weeks ive taken a probiotic daily, I better stop it till I see him! Yep i've been doing lots of research on anti-candida diets! but I'm getting mixed messages with things like fat/carb/protein ratio, and to eat brown rice or not. I've heard that your fat digestion is inhibited with candida. Thankyou very much for the links! I'll definately keep you guys updated! :)

Chris Masterjohn just recently recommended this podcast on SIBO and what to do about it. Looks like it might be very helpful!

Sorry to hear you're having so many problems. First you might go on Google and do a search for 'anti-candida protocal'. Also, check out the GAPS diet. There is a special GAPS anti-candida protocal. http://gapsguide.com/2009/01/13/anti-candida-gaps/

On a personal note, just based on the long list of symptoms that I found here (http://www.holistichelp.net/candida.html) I appear to have a raging case of candida. Unfortunately my recent poop test says I have no growth of mycology (yeast and fungus). I still have to speak to my doctor but my point is that you can't really self-diagnosis with confidence. Also, you don't know what's going on in there and you won't till you start getting some tests done. Taking a probiotic now could potentially mess up your chances for a diagnosis, and to me a diagnosis would be better than gold. Something to consider.

Best of luck and please keep us updated. It might be helpful for me as well. :-)

I would go on GAPS. Be sure to use the highest quality food you can get. Source local organic and make sure the animals are eating what they're designed to eat. Gaps will help you heal and find out what is causing the problems.

Could very well be SIBO. Seems more likely than candida. Probiotics can actually make it worse. A breath test can help with diagnosis.

You didn't describe your diet. Plants, especially raw ones and those containing FODMAPs, can be problematic here. FODMAPs also include fructose and starch. Animal foods are your friends. The introduction diet for GAPS is good (cooked meats, broth/gelatin, animal fats, egg yolks). I would probably do that diet for a while and expect marked improvement within weeks.

I'd say that any of those could be from candida overgrowth. Have you tried a good probiotic. Not sure if I should recommend a brand, but I've used from UAS labs before with excellent results. I also had a lay midwife once recommend (absolutely no sugar!, no yeast, go light on fruit and until healed, no chlorinated water, but drink lots of water, use whatever you need to for the vaginal symptoms-like and over the counter antifungal or candida medication, also use a good probiotic) Keep the stress as low as possible.

I have had 2/3s of the symptoms you mention here. They all went away within a few weeks using this regime I followed: http://eugenia.queru.com/2011/11/15/fixing-constipation/ Now, 5 months of Paleo, the only ones remaining is the occasional difficulty of breathing, and fatigued eyes (not itchy though).
