periodental disease and paleo principals

anyone here have success treating periodental disease? In particular, im wondering if fasting, vlc diets, and consumption of cultures veggies helps (perhaps in combination with fasting)

I don't have personal experience with this, but I do remember reading something here about oil pulling helping with gum health. Might want to research that.

I don't know if it is my imagination, but since I started eating a hardcore Paleo diet about 4 months ago, it seems to me that my teeth are in better shape.

Background: Growing up I had very few dental problems. Aside from one tiny cavity in high school, I had no problems. Fast forward to adulthood and free-choice of food, well, let's say my diet went downhill. Subsequently, I've spent the last 20 years a cavity or two filled everytime I went to the dentist. So I just avoided going :)

These past few months have helped and there are numerous articles out there explaining the science behind Paleo and dental health, so I won't do them the disservice by oversimplifying things, but they are readily available.
