Green Tea Question (Possibly a dumb one...)

Are the benefits of drinking green tea lessened at all by drinking it cold?

I guess I could ask the same question about coffee and black tea, but I'm specifically curious about green tea.

Are you steeping it cold or just drinking cold or iced tea?

Is that to say cold brewing, or just chilling it afterwards?

The latter will be the same product, just cold. The former however is a bit more interesting: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0023643807003581, specifically:

Based on the results obtained, hot water extracts were more effective in antioxidant activity and reducing power. However, cold water extracts were more effective in scavenging ability on DPPH and hydroxyl radicals, and chelating ability on ferrous ions.

Cold water brewing is supposed to extract less caffeine as well.

The best benefits are derived from consuming whole, pulverized tea leaf. The Japanese term for this is Matcha ("maht-chah").

My husband and I buy a good product off Amazon, paying close attention to the price per ounce. It's better priced than anything we've found in stores.

You can add Matcha to pretty much anything you want, as beverage, nutritional addition, spice, etc. It's really up to your imagination & taste.

Remember green tea also has caffeine so mind the proximity you consume it before bedtime.
