Currently I am not eating grass fed beef since it is not available locally (that I know of) though I am going to start ordering it online. I have been buying pastured eggs. My diet has been quite clean otherwise.
My question is if anyone else that has followed this pattern noticed a difference (other than taste) after going to grass fed beef/meats even though a clean diet had been followed otherwise.

It's also worth pointing out that there's more than two types of meat production out there. There's a whole spectrum of husbandry between CAFO and grass-fed/organic. I know my beef (coming from my family's farm) is much closer to the grass-fed/organic side, but we cannot call it either. I think paleo folks should be a little less dogmatic when it comes to their food. Seek out responsible and ethically raised foods, whether they be organic/grass-fed or not.
There's good CAFO beef out there and awful grass-fed/organic beef out there. It's less about a label and more about finding a quality product.

When Don Mastesz wrote he was getting skin issues from grass-fed beef that reminded me that just like the landscape varies everywhere, the animals vary along with it. Even industrial meat is quite variable. I know of feedlots that feed just corn and feedlots that feed corn + damaged candy. So it's hard to isolate effects, given all the variability. I notice I feel much better on grass-fed meat, but there are certain farms whose meat seems to improve my health (digestion, clear skin) more than others.

Hi - K and I initially turned to a Paleo style diet after struggling for years with weight issues and the related ailments that often go alongside. We found and still do that grass fed matured meat not only has a better flavour but is much healthier too. Now that said we did and still do use industrial meat. Reason? Well unless you raise your own, or are very wealthy, which most people aren't it's just unaffordable for the majority of folk. Yes the purists will argue...but it's not 'Paleo' - So what I would say, as long as you generally stick to the principles relating to real foods and a Paleo style diet you won't go far wrong. Further more you will still be way ahead of the sugar addicted masses. There is a certain snobbery in and around the Paleo community that only serves to alienate a large section of society, which is a shame as the core principle of only consuming real foods means that it will not be possible to feed the world this way. If we truly want a solution to the worlds obesity pandemics then yes real foods are the solution, however we need to be realistic and involve everyone and not just a select few. To this end there is a place in Paleo for mechanisation and protein sources exposed to concentrates as feed.
