Thoughts on Kroger grass fed beef?

Any body else here shop at Kroger's all the time? I do. They offer a grass fed beef selection. I've never bought the steaks (they look good but are pricey) but I have bought the 85/15 hamburger and it is funky to say the least. The texture of it while raw is so...Like soupy, it's very difficult to even make a patty out of it..Quite soupy. I haven't found a source for grass fed beef before so I've never handled it before. Then I checked where it came from - Uruguay. Is this even worth the buy?

Seems good to me. Tastes great too. Their simple truth, nitrate/nitrite free bacon is amazing as well :)

I shop at Kroger and other natural markets. it seems the square prepackaged beef, of any brand ive tried, ends up soupy and I think it's because it has more blood left in and it's of a finer mince.

I say go for it.

I've bought several sources of GF ground beef, Simple Truth being one of them. The only type that I consistently like is the local farm GF/Organic. Those burgers finish in the pan a similar size to when they start as opposed to being a high percentage of liquid in the pan.

I've always been very satisfied with all the simple truth products. We buy them frequently, their pork ribs are divine. Of course I always prefer local meat when possible, but it's not a deal breaker for me.

I shop at Kroger all the time since it's right next to me. Honestly I'd rather buy grass-fed beef from a more reputable source... but it tastes good, seems legit, and has a decent price tag, so I end up buying it quite frequently. Although it is quite, "soupy", as you put it... haven't figured that out yet.

I have found their sirloin, ribeyes, and ny strip "simply organic grassfed" products quite delicious. I am concerned to what degree they are grassfed however... I know in order for a beef product to be labeled organic it only needs to be on pasture 30% of the time, not sure exactly what the law is for grass fed labeling.

The scary thing Ive found about the simply organic grassfed ground beef is that if you look at the country of origin it lists Uruguay AND the USA. A hodgepodge of ground beef from several farms several thousand miles away doesn't sound too appetizing for myself personally but Ive eaten it before and its not bad. For $5-6/lb you could do worse.
