I have tried eating a more strict paleo diet without rice or other grains, and mainly veggies, meats, fats, eggs, some healthy oils, and a few fruits and/or nuts. I have always felt icky and my stomach felt kind of....sloshy. I just felt ill and like I needed something else to calm my stomach. So I'd have a tiny bit of rice or potato or something and instantly feel TONS better. It wasn't even a huge amount of starchy foods or grains... but I felt so much better. I've never been able to survive long on a truly paleo diet because I've always felt so horrible and my stomach has felt so unsettled.
Why is this so?
Is it possible to eat without starchy foods? Or do maybe some people need some starch (or grains?) in their diet?

I know some people do avoid starchy foods, either because they find they don't need them or because the starch exacerbates digestive problems, but if that isn't the case, why not eat starchy foods? If they don't give you problems, there's no reason not to eat them. If you want to stick to more strictly paleo than white potatoes or rice, then have sweet potatoes, taro, cassava, and that stuff.

Sometimes I feel like this is a moment of... 'welcome to being female.' Idk why I feel like women can use a little starch in their life sometimes, but I do.
Of course, I'll say that and you'll turn out to be a guy....
Anyway, please do try sweet potatoes, and frankly, the odd regular potato or other 'starchy' tuber won't kill you either. Just don't eat them in excess.
My honest opinion is that the thing to stay away from are grains and excess sugar. White veggies, on the other hand, won't kill you.

Have you tried other paleo starches like sweet potatoes, winter squash, or plantains?
Sometimes I feel unsatisfied when my meals are only meats and non-starchy veggies. I've assumed it's because the meals are pretty low carb. I feel more satisfied when I have something starchy with one or two (of my three) meals, but I never include rice or other grains.
Your stomach may feel unsettled if you're eating a lot more vegetables than you had before, especially raw veggies. If that's the case, it will probably get better when your body gets used to the change. You may want to include some starchy veggies with each meal in the meantime.

Have you looked at the ratios of the foods you eat? All fat or all veggies won't do you a lot of good. From your description, it doesn't sound like you gave your body any time at all to adjust to healthier eating.
