I can feel the ill effects from wheat and barley (except beer) within hours of eating them. Low mood, brain fog, etc.
Beans, no problems, at least not immediate problems.

For me it would be the gluten. I admit to having hummus from time to time :/

It depends on what type of grain and legume we are talking about. White rice is benign and considered safe. Wheat on the other hand......Split peas, green beans and lentils are okay for most people with healthy guts. Black beans and Red kidney beans on the other hand......
