Can grain cause cancer? Scientific evidence?

Is it more likely that pesticides, heavy metals and GMO's are responsible for the cancer epidemic?

Thanks,

Paul

I think it could contribute to cancer. Another substance/food that we shouldn't be consuming...

Rather my question is, what are the specific constituents that COULD contribute to cancer?

Hi, Great question. Grains require careful preparation because they contain a number of antinutrients that can cause serious health problems. Substantial scientific evidence indicates that whole grains reduce cancer risk Thanks.. http://www.colonhealthmagazine.com/colon-cancer/

Yes! Especially the glucose! http://www.askthelowcarbexperts.com/2012/10/31-dr-colin-champ-ketogenic-diets-and-cancer/

Here it is straight from the president of one of the most renowned cancer hospitals in the world: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUlE1VHGA40

In fact many of the recent drugs developed to fight cancer work by turning off the receptor that allows cancer cells to consume glucose for food and effectively starving the tumor. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/30/health/30cancer.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Grains especially the germ portion are high in Phytic acid which is being touted as a cancer fighter these days. As far as why grains would cause cancer I have never heard of that but I agree with you that all that other junk (pesticides etc) could be a cause.

They can for me. Consumption of wheat can eventually lead to small bowel cancer for people with celiac disease.

I would say "contribute to" rather than "cause". There are clearly many potential factors. Refined foods, polyunsaturates, bad air, other pollutants, excess estrogen, stress...
