Ok here it goes. I am new to the Paleo/Primal nutrition lifestyle. My elimination of wheat has come to an end. As of this morning no more grains/wheat products. Yes I am also reading labels. It is in the majority of our food items. That being said there were several things I noticed while I was eating grains/gluten/wheat. Some of this is graphic I guess. First is the extreme gas I had. It was chronic and all day when I was at the peak of CW eating. Also along with that came anal itching..LOL!! Sorry just part of the problem I guess. Bloating or feeling like my stomach was extended out more was also noticable. The other typical sugar high/low was there as well. I will say this much grains play hell on the brain as well. That craving is powerful.
Are the symptoms I described above typical of a wheat/gluten intolerance?
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

I was a fart machine before I eliminated dairy and wheat/gluten containing grains.
Now? I don't even have to wear deodorant.

definitely a possibility. I don't miss that nasty itch or the cravings - hang in there!

I had a lot of painful bloating and gas that goes away when I'm not having gluten (I had a negative endoscopy for Celiac, and am able to tolerate small amounts sometimes). With the itching though, I wonder if you have candida? If you still have these symptoms after cutting gluten for awhile, you may need to cut all sugars including honey & fruit. If you are really uncomfortable you may want to see a doc. They just tried to put me on IBS pills & I had much better results with the dietary route tho...

I ate gluten today for the first time in 2 weeks and the symptoms were almost instant:
- Stiffness in the back of the neck, sort of like an itch inside the neck, not sure whether that is related but it appeared about half an hour after ingestion.
- Bloating and gas (started 90 minutes after ingestion).
None of these are painful; just unpleasant.
This is the first time I connect symptoms to gluten intolerance so directly so I guess that's it for me: Paleo for life.
