Constipation after gluten exposure? Natural laxative?

So like a weenie, I caved to the yearly cookie extravaganza at my job and devoured several chocolate chip cookies. this after 6 solid months gluten free. I am severely bloated and cannot pass stool since Monday. Im thinking about taking a laxative but my old standby tends to be harsh (magnesium citrate). SHould I ignore the sugar content in prune juice and just down a bottle? This is highly uncomfortable and the bloating and gas in my stomach and chest make it difficult to lay down.

And Chicory Root, along with Jicama, Burdock Root, Jerusalem Artichokes, Artichokes, Pectin are all in the inulin family that Dr Art Ayers advocates using to heal the gut and to restore good gut flora.

coffee doesnt make me "go" anymore. I guess Im too caffeinated :)

I cannot recommend enough a tablespoon or two of either lemon juice or raw apple cider vinegar in a pint glass. Fill halfway with hot water and then add cool water to the point where you can pound it. Pound first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, and you will be, shall we say, cleansed.

Best thing I have found, after spending years suffering from the same complaint (and trying many many things) is ground chicory root coffee. Absolutely fantastic, and you will feel better after 12-24 hours. It gets everything moving again in a very gently way. In addition, it is high in magnesium and deeply supports your liver (it has been traditionally used for the liver throughout history) and has other supportive roles in the body and you can safely drink it in large quantities. It is usually found in the supermarket here in France under a particular brand mixed with small amounts of coffee. I just looked up chicory coffee in the U.S. and it seems that New Orleans is where it is at; Union and French Market brands come out on top.

I keep a jar in the first aid cabinet ;)

It is rare now, but when I used to get your way, I would put 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water and down it fairly slowly. It burns on the way down if drunk too fast. I figure it is counteracting the high ph of the wheat/gluten that my body is not used to. Seemed to work for me every time. But now since I am less than 15g carbs a day, its been a couple years since I have had to use this remedy. Much better than the prune juice that will do nothing to get you moving. On top of the ACV drink much more water. Good luck.

Probably wouldn't hurt to try downing some coffee (even decaf). Of course no sugar necessary. Using something to add creaminess (full fat dairy or nondairy like coconut milk) is at your discretion.

WHy not just try the magnesium but use a half dose or lesser?
