Raw food "cleanse" for one day- good for you?

Since I lift weights, I'm not crazy about the idea of going a whole day without eating much protein. Having said that, my friend said she only ate raw veg/fruit for one day and felt great afterward.

Is there any health benefit to this? Would you say it's a good idea?

Try a 30 day reset...That seems to be the most effective way of getting the will power ! :)

Barely...I had two clif bars today so I wouldn't even say I'm eating paleo. But I've been trying to come close for about a week now. *has no willpower* lol. To be fair, I haven't eaten wheat/gluten in over a year other than little cheats.

Preface: I'm inherently skeptical of all cleanses. I don't think just not consuming food for a period somehow makes your body expel all toxins. Of course, permanently stopping consumption of any food containing toxins WILL work, but it's not the "miracle process" most cleanses promise.

That being said, I doubt your friend's cleanse did anything much. The better feeling he/she felt could have come from several things, among them 1. The placebo effect (i.e. he/she expected to feel better, so they felt better) 2. Removal of a foods he/she does not tolerate (which means your friend would be better off identifying which food it is that is causing the issue and cutting it out permanently), 3. some other random reason.

Of course, eating just raw fruit and vegetables for a day won't kill you; it might slow down your muscle growth temporarily if you do the "cleanse" the day after a hard workout.

I would say if your using weights and want it to make a real difference then you definately need the protein! You won't have to go mad but it's important! Eat raw fruits and veg as well as some decent quality meat and that should give you a good balanced diet!

Maybe see a nutritionist or personal trainer for some advice. I did and it helped a lot and was a good investment as they really give you a food/exercise program tailor made to your needs and goals :)

How long have you been eating paleo??

Ryan :)
