Does anyone JUDGE people by what they have in their shopping carts?

How many like to evaluate other people’s grocery carts?

First and foremost, I DO. I do judge them. At least I am being honest.

When I see a 400 pounder walking around Walmart with industrial size boxes of fructose filled, hydrogenated sugar bombs I look and I know EXACTLY what caused that to happen.

You see, I'm one of those people who grew up being told fat people had a 'bad gene', and it was not their fault. I felt bad, for YEARS for them. I have some of these folks with 'bad genes' in MY family.

I am so glad I know better now and will NEVER have to deal with being Obese. Maybe Abeast, but not Obese.

There are worse things in life to be than obese. Judgmental and pedantic come to mind.

Slightly different flavor of question, though.

I kind of get riled about using the word "judgement" in terms of what people choose to eat. My gut reaction is that the word means "evaluating someone's worth or goodness akin to religion" - something to which I am not personally affiliated. Sure I take note that the person who cannot walk in the store and must use a motorized shopping cart is buying Swanson Frozen Dinners and Wonderbread. But the other day I was behind an old man, crippled with palsy and covered in skin tags who was buying nothing but red meat, avocados and coffee.

Personally, I keep my eye on my own cart. Most of the time I don't even get my food from a store anyway.

PS hope you don't get Cushings or some other hormonal disease that may render you obese no matter what foods you put in your mouth. :)

No, I don't judge them.

I get nervous in storms. I am squeamish about snakes. I'm afraid of the dark.

I also fell into sugar/wheat addiction as a pre-teen and I know exactly how hard it is to break that cycle. I lost 50 or more pounds at least 4 times but each time I was unable to stay free and I wound up heavier than I started.

I hope you're right that you'll never have to deal with obesity--it's awful. I can't claim final victory, but it feels very nice to be able to move freely now that I'm down nearly 40 pounds. I'm also very aware that I still have 30 to lose.

Those folks you see who are very heavy are undoubtedly suffering in their daily lives and I wish I could help them but I know each has to find their own way out. With all the conflicting info they receive, many are doomed and that's sad!

No.

I look at carts, and I worry for people who fill them with wrong food-type-products, but I don't judge. They don't know any more than I knew that whole-grain blueberry bagels are not heart healthy foods. Even the carts full of soda and chips just make me feel sad. I wish more people were better educated, and I wish that the system that is educating them wasn't skewed so badly in the wrong direction.
