How to recover from a massive fried food cheat?

I feel awful about what I put my body through yesterday...ugh. After a really good paleo week, my husband took me out to an all-you-can-eat Catfish parlour where everything is fried. We're talking fried hush puppies, fried catfish, french fries, and thena piece of ice box chocolate pie for dessert.

At least they advertised that nothing was cooked in trans fats, so that's something. I lost 2 pounds since last night, oddly enough, but I still feel horrible and guilty for eating all of that fried food and the potential damage it has done to my body.

Any good detox suggestions?

It's called gluconeogenesis.

I fast because it gets rid of all the crap calories I just ate and it helps psychologically also.

*After a really good paleo week, my husband took me out*... Honestly, that doesn't sound very supportive. Do have any fish restaraunts around, where both fried-stuffs and paleo-friendly fish are available? If you want to be 6/7days paleo, that's your prerogative, but you can do better for yourself. I believe in you. :-)

A dinner to dinner fast (24 hours) is what I've been known to do after a large, non-ideal meal.

Epsom salt soaks are good too, in the absence of a sauna.

Normally I'd say take some fish oil, but the catfish is probably sufficient. Just get back to "normal". You'll be fine without any silly detox protocols.

Don't stress about it too much- these things happen. You don't need any sort of "detox"- your body is pretty dang good at that already. Just give your body some healthy food, and it will sort things out for itself.

agreed, just go back to eating as you normally do

drinking more water than usual and taking a steam or sauna may help you to feel better

The damage will come from the PUFA's, take some natural vitamin E, and maybe aspirin to help with the inflammation. Fasting would not be a good approach as your body would be creating free radicals from using these highly unstable fats as fuel, not to mention turning your muscles into glycogen.
