Your sexiest paleo meal you've made?

Answered on August 19, 2014
Created June 26, 2012 at 12:08 AM

Our five-year anniversary is coming up, and since restaurant always dissapoint us, I'm looking for sexy paleo dinner ideas to make at home. We don't like sweets or "faux bread stuffs," just want to make something a bit fancy that screams sex. Suggestions?

Ahh.. but that's a fun challenge! Josh's Ploughmann but if you're cool on a little gluten party, very little gluten, utilize Guinness in a dessert. I make chocolate stout ice cream all the time, you could do a chocolate stout panna cotta, etc. My friends had jello shots at their wedding, top 3 of weddings I've gone to, and um.. the cake was kind of destroyed, so that ended up being their dessert. It was so awesome. Seriously. They have them now every year.. top shelf booze tho :)

Appetizer of apples, different hard cheeses (I suggest Manchego, Asiago, and Irish Cheddar), cherries (pretty damn sexay, and in season, and insanely good with manchego), grapes, some slices of nice salami or other high-end cold charcuterie - basically a "beer tasting" menu - otherwise known as a Ploughman's Board (only, without the bread or crackers).

For the dinner, nothing says "sexy" to me like a properly prepared ribeye. My wife loves Southern food, so a side of kale cooked with bacon, a smidge of apple cider vinegar, and a couple cloves of garlic.

For the dessert - Unsweetened cocoa-dusted strawberries with whipped heavy cream (whip organic cream with a couple drops of vanilla extract)

Sure, lots of fructose, but as far as a relatively healthy dinner that's also romantic...

Look, I love Ribeye. In fact, it is my absolute favorite thing on the planet. Give it to me thick, on the bone, and cooked just enough to activate the fat and I'm in heaven. But I am not sure it screems sex. For me, after ingesting 16 - 24 oz of ribeye I am not sure I am ready to hop in bed and I certainly don't want to have desert in bed.

I think a better option would be to keep it light and refreshing. Start with a simple crab salad served on endive or seared ahi with a minted pea puree. If tomotoes are in where you live maybe a heirloom gazpacho.

For the main I would stay light. If it had to be meat I would choose a low-fat cut like a filet. I would go Chateaubriand with some sort of sexy sauce or port reduction.

For desert, peaches are in here and there is simply nothing more delicious or sexy than a farm fresh peach. Perhaps, grilled peaches with a local made ice cream or dairy free ice cream if you have one you like.

With this menu I could spend less time digesting and more time focusing on..... well, whatever it is you two will be focusing on. Just my two cents.

What about the two of you making dinner together - all your favourite things? Plan the menu, maybe he does your favourite flowers for the table and you do the bubbles and/or favourite wine and cocktails - throw yourselves a private party?

Oo! What did you have on your first date/when he proposed/wedding dinner/first meal on honeymoon? Choose one, or components out of each, and adjust to how you're eating now. Like, if you had cake at your wedding and it was white with berries and lemon in the layers, you could do a coconut or vanilla panna cotta with fresh berries or a berry compote? Hmm.. maybe small berries and then top each serving with a chocolate covered strawberry.. that you can feed each other :)

Best wishes on your anniversary!

Ooooh, tough one. If you like spices, try this. Chicken, grilled or poached, and make a medly of peppers, oinions, cucumbers, and pink lady apples. Cook for a bit (15 minutes outta work) on a medium-high heat. Get some paleo-friendly salsa and cover the whole mixture and simmer for another 5 after adding cayanne or chili poweder. Put the mixture over the chicken.

I like Joshes ideas for appetizers and dessert! :-)

Rib-eye steak is definitely sexy. We had it once with this roasted beets and blood orange recipe http://paleospirit.com/2012/roasted-beets-with-blood-oranges/ and that was really good since beets are naturally sweet and the oranges are tangy and it's really red..it was really good. Of course red wine if you drink it. I also fully support the setting up of a feast table, something reminiscent of medieval times, if I ever get married I want the food to just be a huge antique wooden table filled with silver platters of freshly grilled meats, vegetable, and fruits, and maybe throw in some blocks of awesome cheese for the dairy eaters, etc. etc. I always think those big wooden medieval tables covered in food look really sexy, I really really like food though so it makes sense. :)

Chicken or veal marsala- it does use a touch of wine though. I use Giada's recipe from the Food Network and omit the dragging through flour.

We usually use about double the butter and add in lots of veggies (asparagus, broccoli, green beans)

Or chicken wrapped with proscuitto (has dairy). I take two small chicken tenders, place in between the two a heaping spoonful of cream cheese mixed with herbs (basil, parsley, garlic), wrap it in proscuitto and then saute it. That's my absolute favorite meal. Not 100% paleo but

Pork loin, stuffed with pork/dried apple and sage sausage, wrapped in proscuitto, roasted on top of halved apples - deglaze pan with chicken stock, makes a delicious pan gravy (I thickened it with arrowroot). Served over sweet potato and celeriac pancakes with roasted wild mushrooms on the side (bacon in the mushrooms, of course, to keep the triple/quadruple pork theme going!). Roasted pecans drizzled with honey for dessert. (No dairy in my world, but if it is in your world, you could also do a sweet potato gratin with cheese bubbling on it.)

A meal that screams sexy, to me, is not a multiple course meal with lots of wine. That just makes me want to go to sleep. ;)

Cook together! It's a great opportunity for flirting.
