Hi all, I am so excited I found this website. I am looking forward to making new friends on here and supporting everyone in their healthy lifestyles.
A little about me: for the past year and a half, I have experienced horrible gastro pain (lower left abdomen, thought it was ovarian but they're fine!) after eating anything with wheat. I kept a log for about 3 months and realized what was happening. If i had crackers, I got the pain. If I had chips, the pain again. I also was not having regular BMs - about once a week only. I was tested for celiac and it came back negative, so my doctor told me to try a low carb diet. I decided to try paleo and I have never felt better. I haven't gotten "the pain" (which was incapacitating) and am regular now.
I also have antibodies to my islet cells in my pancreas and to my thyroid. Since doing paleo (plus some cheese -and grassfed butter) and having bloodwork about 2 weeks ago (diet change for about 2 months), my blood sugars are superb (~90-100 post meal, 80 fasting), my hemoglobin A1C is 5.3, my cholesterol is great (HDL 65, LDL 90, Trig 45), my thyroid hormones are normal (they were low 6 months ago), my b12 is 800 (up from 100). Everything changed for the better since this diet. I can't express how excited I am about it.
I am 5'4 female, 133 pounds and looking to lose some more. Over the past two years I've lost about 15 lbs and I would like to reach my goal weight of about 120-125lbs. I am back in the gym lifting and doing some cardio.
My main concern is my calorie intake - what should I aim for? I find I rarely meet 1200 calories, mostly because I'm just not hungry with my intake of whole foods. Also, what would be an ideal amount of protein/fat/carbs be for me? I am at around 60gcarbs/47gfat/135gprotein. Does that look ok?
