Maca comes from a root, and I would guess you're taking it in a supplement fashion? Just from what I know about supplements, it is important to try and get full nourishment from whole foods.
Better carbs might include sweet potatoes/yams, squash, zucchini (lots of great recipes out there, very versatile).
My advice would be that it is good to have a variety of whole-food carbs, and try to avoid being sold by pretty packages (that always draw my eyes).
