Food question: what kind of string/twine can i use in cooking?

What kind of string/twine is best to use in cooking? For instance when i need to string together fresh spices, chicken drumsticks, etc? What are some safe material and what should i avoid?

cotton butchers twine: http://www.amazon.com/Cotton-Butchers-Twine-185-feet/dp/B000I1WNV0/

You can pay extra for "organic twine" -- but just make sure it's 100% cotton and you should be fine.
