Feeling High After Eating

I get this great food high after eating and would like to know more about it but searching "food" and "high" together in google is pointless. I'm strictly Primal (fat, protein, veggies) with grass fed beef, Kerrygold butter (my only dairy), lots of non starchy veggies. I get this really awesome feeling after eating. Not sleepy, dopey or any other dwarf. Like I just had the best run of my life or finished an intense martial arts class. I feel like I could jump over a building or punch through walls. It's not jittery either. Anyone else get it?

Yes! I've gotten this buzz a few times, too!

I get this when I eat a fatty meal while in keto, especially when I'm breaking a long-ish fast. It is VERY drug like; my brain takes on a happy buzzing feeling.

I have a similar experience now. Though, I don't really get what I would call hungry anymore, at least as it compares to what I would have called hungry before. Now I just know that it's time to eat a meal. Completely different sensation. After I eat, I feel as you described. And +1 for being Strong Like Bull!

I get a strong sense of well-being and a peaceful, physical calmness in my body most days, and usually after I eat. It's as if my body is actually telling me that I am doing the right thing. Such a contrast to lying in bed a few years ago after binging on ice cream and feeling like my life force was leaving my body. Being off of sugar and grains for four years has also given my taste buds a chance to taste that everything I eat seems sweet--vegetables, some fruit, protein, even. I love the food I eat now, and how I feel.

I get this way whenever I make changes that amp up my metabolism, until it renormalizes and becomes "normal" to my brain and body.

I always thought of it as going super-saiyan.

Sort of? I have been really working on letting myself get hungry before I eat (which means I only eat twice a day most days), and after I eat I feel what I call "happy tummy" instead of, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" from when I was eating starch and sugar. It feels a little like what I imagine Popeye feels when he eats the spinach. Like, "YES! LIFE-GIVING FOOD! STRONG LIKE BULL!"

Yes! I get that same feeling! It's awesome, I haven't felt this good in years. The carb-flu / detox was awful but totally worth it. I will never go back to eating grain, dairy and legumes again. I know my body is healed and is thanking me now. It's a great high!
