Don't buy pâté, make your own. It's the easiest thing to do and you'll know exactly what's gone into it (no horse meat for sure!).

Thanks for the reply! I think you are referring to fois grois specifically where they over feed the ducks to increase the liver. Otherwise I think pate isn't overtly cruel than eating a steak is

On the strength of this thread I went to waitrose and had a look through the pate section - most of it has dairy in when you read the ingredients which I'm trying to avoid, or starch of some sort..

But in the same section I found 'Sutherlands potted beef' with the following ingredients:

Beef (67%),Beef Heart ,Water ,Salt ,White Pepper ,Nutmeg ,Ginger Pur??e ,Cayenne Pepper

Its not exactly pate but its similar and so nice I ate the whole tub as soon as I got home! Plus its pretty cheap :)

I really like cook: http://www.cookfood.net/ They have a good venison pate. Other than that, Waitrose is my goto. Other than that, Eurostar and a trip to Paris.

Wild boar pâté from France is excellent. You may need to shop around for a gluten-free one. Try Whole Foods if in London, or Marks & Spencer, believe it or not!

Supermarket wise i find Waitrose to be the best for pretty much everything, for websites, just google grass fed/organic meat uk or raw dairy uk etc... ive only ordered meat online once from Devon Rose, seemed pretty good but not anything better than Waitrose organic meats

Id like to hear some recommednations for Pate myself, i love the taste, but isn't it ridiculously cruel? That's why i stopped eating it a while back
