upvoted because that's what I'd suggest too. Hard boiled eggs. Avocado. Sausage (even cold pre-cooked, I love it).

Hard boiled eggs is an excellent idea, and if you can get slices of bacon from the dining hall, that works too. Hard sausage is also good (Trader Joes has good cheap sausage) and keeps well, & if you're eating dairy, cheese is another idea although maybe not as portable, ditto with yogurt. And avocado.

Jerky is fine. But look for a brand without a lot of additives like sugars and oils.

When I was in college the dining hall always had hard boiled eggs in the salad bar. I would bring a tupperware and drop 6 in to keep as a snack for later in the day. I would also poach hamburgers and chicken, etc. (of course I was not paleo/primal then, but it holds true).

Other ideas (and I am trying to stick to cheaper things): Canned Tuna, Deli meat, cheeses (if you do dairy), fruit, vegetables, smoked salmon, sardines, nuts...

I am a paleo college student too!

Do you have a meal plan?

Snacks I keep in my dorm are a bunch of cashews, salami, and nitrate-free hot dogs. Deli slices are also nice to munch on.

Also whenever they have a bunch of meat for dinner in my dining hall, I always sneak some back to my dorm in a napkin to microwave later.

Also, I have gone to the store and bought a package of grass-fed ground beef, cooked it in the common kitchen, and kept it in a plastic food container in my fridge.

If you do have a meal plan, it is hard to get all your fat in, since most people are such fat-phobes, so I have a can of coconut oil in my room that I try and add to things, or just take spoonfuls of. It is strange at first, but if you are willing, you will get used to it!

Good luck!
