Craving white vinegar all the time

I find I frequently crave vinegar. To the point that, even writings about it here, I start salivating. It doesn't seem to have too much to do with hunger, although the craving is worse when I am hungry. Does anyone else get this?

I have been through three cycles. I craved vinegar before, bit it is much worse now, so maybe it is the chemo. I taste metal all the time. Thank you so much for the book suggestion.

have you started chemo yet? theres a great book that notes cravings based on the changes your body goes thru due to chemo and other treatments: "The cancer fighting Kitchen".....highly recommended, it say, if you crave or feel this, taste this (ie: metal), eat this or this....to counter balance the tastes

Don't know. I never craved sweets even when I was a little girl. I always loved sour things. Dessert for me meant "sour", not sweet. Most of the world besides USA likes sour things. Or at least they did, before industrialization of food.

Usually related to a mineral deficiency. Pregnant women frequently crave vinegar-heavy foods (pickles, etc.) for this reason.

I always felt that cravings for sour foods might indicate that your body is craving probiotic bacteria due to the fact that many sour foods with the exception of citrus fruits are fermented/pickled and generally provide some source of probiotics. Just my theory.

Here is an amazing soda I made once when craving vinegar: good balsamic vinegar and seltzer water.

Chinese medicine probably has something to say on craving sour tastes, but I am not qualified to say it. Maybe it's worth talking to an accupuncturist if you feel the craving is due to systemic imbalance.
