In RW book he stated that he use to take fish oil --because he was really banged up. Is there anyone here that has since stopped taking fish oil supp-- if so, how did you knowit was time to stop?

Did you eat gelcap fish oil? The gelatin is high concentrations of free glutamic acid AKA MSG. Taking oil on a teaspoon will probably make you feel much better without the excitotoxin involved.

this, INTERNAL oxidation scares me. All PUFA is low in my diet. I eat Grassfed Meat only, so my ratio is good considering I eat little O6, and do have Wild Fish occasionally. Want to avoid creating internal AGE/ALE's

I quit after realizing that high intake of PUFA fats (6 or 3) is bad, the stuff oxidizes/reacts quickly! I took my intake of Omega 6 to the minimum by eliminating (long ago) seed oils, grains, and more recently limiting fowl/pork/nuts. My main food supply is whole carcass wild game meats, cradle to bolt-gun grass fed beef, and veggies.

I think it is a personal thing and obviously depends on your diet. Personally I found that sourcing a quality fish oil supplement was more trouble than it was worth, so I just increased my intake of oily fish. I try to watch my O6s as much as possible. I also found that when taking fish oil, I bled a lot more than usual. I was taking around 2g of combined EPA/DHA a day (not 2g of fish oil in total, it was a lot more than that due to the concentration of the oil I was taking). Anyway, dietary variety beats popping pills/glugging fish oils for me.

I personally like the way I feel when I take Fish Oil supplements, helps my sleep and keeps me regular :p That and being pregnant, having extra omega 3 does wonders for babys growth :)

I stopped about 6 months after switching to grass fed & pastured meats, when I realized I was bruising easily and my blood wasn't clotting as quickly as it ought to (a tiny cut would keep bleeding longer than normal). Decided I no longer needed fish oil to keep my omega 3 & 6 in balance. Still eating fish about once a week.

I haven't stopped, but I've curtailed it big time. I may go a few days without any, but I still take some on occasion.

Basically, I now eat things that aren't tilted heavily on the omega 6 side. I eat grass-fed beef, wild-caught salmon and so forth. Every so often, I'll eat a couple handfuls of nuts. When I do, I try to remember to take a couple of fish oil pills.

I'm certainly no authority on these things, but I believe that fish oils are mostly a "tool" to help even out the omega 6 to omega 3 ratio. Since I'm pretty evened out on that ratio, I no longer routinely take them.

I stopped taking the fish oil a few months ago. I was using the fermented cod liver / high vitamin butter oil combo. I have a very flexible gullet but I found it extremely hard to take. It is solid and gel-like, so you can't drink it, and it doesn't dissolve in anything, so you have to kind of chew a big blob of goo, it's awful. The oiliness is very prominent and I found myself washing my face and hands after taking it.

I never felt any improvement after several weeks, and while I feel that I probably need the vitamin D, I wasn't sure that I needed the megadose of vitamin A that comes with it. I might revisit this, since I've been having cravings for vegetables (red bell peppers and cabbage), so I am probably deficient in some nutrients.

I still keep it around for recovering from illnesses or extremely stressful times (and hey it's very expensive so I don't want to toss it), as I think it would help to restore the body. But it is hard to imagine something harder to take. There's a long list of foods and supplements I'd rather take first.

I don't get any source of PUFAs in my diet, unless it's trace or accidental.

I stopped taking fish oil pills several months ago, to experiment and see if I noticed any difference - I didn't. That was my only source of PUFAs, but maybe there's some in beef liver, which I do eat regularly, raw. I still don't notice any difference. I'm not so sure EFAs are as essential or difficult to get, as many suggest.

I stopped taking fish oil because I realized it was making my stomach super bubbly and it made me feel awful.
