Help me decide what to buy please.... *** updated with my purchases **

I was just awarded $50 gift card from our local food store for commenting on several things they could do better.

At this time, I cant eat red meat because of what it does to me....Keeping that in mind....(no i am not ready to try grassfed beef just in case,,, ;)

I was thinking of buying wild caught salmon, cod, haddock and shrimp since these are not in my normal budget. What would you say would be a better omega 3 source?? I have yet to learn to balance my omega 3/6.

I eat chicken, pork in all forms inc liverwurst, eggs, some fish, mainly salmon and tuna...

Thanks, Theresa

PHere is what I purchased : Paleo and Non Paleo Things:

Country Sausage, cagefree higher omega eggs, devon cream, Fresh market Whipping Cream x 2, avacado, 4 Fuji's, Shitaki mushrooms, bacon with out nitrates, 3 sweet potatoes, cucumber dill salad, $3.00 block of VAhlrona 70% Chocolate, Hot Mustard, Lemon

Thanks for everyones responses... $50 goes fast!

At my farmer's market this summer, a goat farmer said she could sell some milk classified as "for animal consumption", but then I found raw milk at the local co-op? So, there ya go..I don't know if it really is legal or not in my state of Washington.

I started typing up a list, then realized that it was unrequired.

Buy Paleo Food. preferably of the Wild Variety. Avoid Foods that dont agree with you.

We have a lot of great threads for reducing Omega 6 intake. Avoid most Nuts/seeds, avoid Oils. shoot for Wild Meat.etc

I'd try grassfed beef or lamb coupled with some digestive enzymes. I have no idea how anyone does Paleo without red meat.

I'd probably buy things I won't normally buy with the extra money. Update the spice drawer. Buy some new teas. Get some 72% G&B dark chocolate (to hell with you people who say 80+% is enjoyable). Hazelnuts are always a fun splurge for me. I'd say some high quality grassfed cheese but if red meats giving you digestive problems, I can't imagine dairy sits well with you. Oh and Mussels are the best Omega-3 source. So delicious and farm raised is a-okay with mussels. And coconut milk is a must. Play with some of the strange starchy vegetables -- the taro, cassava, etc. Maybe buy some Kombucha and start a culture so you can make your own. Some coconut water is always great. Depending on your goals you may allow some rice. Per K Harris, I've been doing rice crispies with coconut milk along side my three eggs in the morning (I'm trying to add lean muscle mass). You could get a nice bottle of wine. Some avocados. Macadamia nuts. Ghee. Coconut oil. Canned tomatoes and makes this guy http://everydaypaleo.com/2011/01/11/answering-questions-with-robb-andy-of-the-paleo-solution-and-a-recipe/. I've been fancying sardine salads lately. A quick lunch that makes the house smell for an hour. Smoke salmon is a great breakfasty food as well. Raw milk if they carry it. Almond butter is nice to have around. Gluten free soy sauce. *Sauerkraut*. Etc, Etc, Etc.

What a great opportunity. I'd suggest getting something you know you love, or something exotic you've heard is good, but have never tried.

When deciding to splerge and make a nice Valentine's dinner, my girlfriend an I bought 2 live lobsters. Never will you feel more paleo than boiling a live animal and then tearing it apart with your bare hands to suck out the meat. Not to mention they're absolutely delicous.

Consider buying fish high in Omega 3s:

Mackerel
Lake Trout
Herring
Bluefin Tuna
Salmon
Sardines
Atlantic Sturgeon
Albacore Tuna
Lake Whitefish
Anchovies
Bluefish

You could also buy fish oil, or buy supplements like vitamin D, which often escape the average trip to the grocery store.

I am really trying to lose and be vlc and be in ketosis. I have been eating sausage (chicken or pork) in the am. Some times only a earl gray or two w/ cream in the AM for breakfast, but usually 2 eggs. Bacon some days.

Other meals include: pork burgers chicken or pork sausage pork roast grilled chicken liverwurst salads with or with out meat salmon tilapia but i read I might as well not because i cant find it wild I cook in coconut oil, butter (kerry gold) or bacon fat. I want to try sardines as well as other canned fish. drinks are water and tea only occassional apple (6 in 31 days - before i realized i was eating too much fructose) occassional sweet potato (i have eaten 3 in 31 days)

I dont drink alcohol, havent for 8 years, hubby quit and i got preg for second time and never looked back.

I cant locally find raw milk, I dont think it is allowed in Florida unless they label it for animal comsumption. So I havent sought it out.
