Do fresh water fish have mercury?

I limit my fish intake because of mercury concerns but does that apply to all fish or only fish from the ocean?

Do fresh water fish from lakes and rivers have significant amounts of mercury or are they safe?

Typo in the title, it should be "Do fresh water *fish* have mercury"

Less mercury. It is the same reason why sea fish have iodine and selenium. It accumulated in sea water over very long times. Fresh water just runs off and does not accumulate as much. Local hot spots, such as Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron, for benthic fish, are going to be an exception.
