What brand of fish oil do you recommend? Liquid or piils?

I'm a Carlson's guy as well, CLO in the winter and regular fish oil in the summer (I get plenty of sunlight, and I already eat enough liver/offal for Vitamin A in the summer).

I like garden of life's cod liver oil. Never had any problem with it, and it's more natural than most other brands.

Eric, I just checked the online prices @ Vitamin Shoppe for the Carlson's Cod Liver oil and it's $35 for both the regular and the lemon in the 16.8 oz bottle. So Vitacost's price for the regular is still $11 cheaper.

Pro tip: Vitamin Shoppe recognizes their online prices in their stores, which I show them with my iphone. Their Carlson's is pretty cheap. I get the lemon. Lastly, this might be wrong, but I don't like getting it shipped because I fear it will be more likely to sit in a hot warehouse or van.

I use Spectrum in gel caps, and store them in the fridge to keep everything fresh.

Also, keep fish oil in the fridge, capsules or liquid.

If you take 1 tsp a day, 60 days, if you take 2 tsp a day, 30 days. Which is why I go with the Walmart triple strength. If someone showed me scientific proof that the liquid was better (and this someone was not a producer or seller of liquid fish oil) I would switch. But I refuse to be a label or brand whore. More expensive isn't always better, sometimes it's just more expensive...

I use Cod Liver Oil. Carlson's in the lemon flavor which I buy online from Vitacost.com and I take a tablespoon or more per day. The price just went up so I've just ordered 3 bottles of the regular instead of the lemon. It's $24 per 16.8 oz bottle compared to $35 for the lemon flavor. I don't need to spend that extra $11 just for flavoring!

Liquid all the way. Your body absorbs it much better and you can take less.

Stronger Faster Healthier makes a great fish oil. One teaspoon a day gives you ~ 2700mg EPA and DHA. If you look carefully at some fish oil pills, you'll see it says 1000mg fish oil in a serving (1 pill), but only 300 mg of the EPA and DHA (that's off the costco ones I used to use). I'd have to take 9 pills a day to equal one teaspoon of SFH fish oil!

I've only used the lemon so far, but i've heard great things about the chocolate and vanilla.

EDIT: And I have not experienced a fishy smell or taste!

PaleoNewComer,

Kamal posted this link awhile back. There is good info on fish oil quality with many different brands tested.

I prefer Jarrow Krill Oil to fish oil. Fish oil gives me acne. Also never had problems with 'fish burps'.

I don't use fish oil anymore.

I take 1000 mg NOW brand Neptune Krill Oil for my Omega 3s. Less oxidation and no mercury contamination.

I use the Walmart's Spring Valley Triple Strength Fish Oil. Good stuff. Take 2 per day. I know it's not Carlson's, but its a fraction of the price and no nasty fishy smell, so I think it's not rancid.
