Feeling down after 2 weeks

I am on day 16 and am feeling quite down this evening. Some days I feel great though... Is it part of the process to have these mood swings ? I feel it's because I can't have any type of sweetness or artificial stuff. Will I feel better as the days, weeks progress ? When do I get the Euphoria feeling that people write about?

So funny, I just posted a similar question (I'm day 13 and feeling a little stuck) but also have been feeling irritable and bummed (and impatient!). Never occurred to me it could be withdrawal from all the crap I've been eating all these years, especially sugar and the sugar from carbs. I'll stick with it - hopefully it'll all improve! And don't forget, you can have some fruit...that helps!

@pmbford I can relate. I have just completed week 3 but during weeks 1 and 2 my mood was increasingly terrible. Part of it is withdrawal, I've heard it said that sugar meets many of the criteria of a Class A drug, so we become habituated to run our brain chemistry and consequent mood on stimulants and high GI foods. Also, I was having digestive disturbances and sleep problems, which lowered my energy and took my mood with it. I started experimenting with what I was doing, added some rice and potato's back in, that didn't help. Then someone on here suggested my salt might be low, and I noticed after a fried breakfast my energy and mood improved greatly. So I decided to back off the starchy carbs again and input more fat and salt, in the form of bacon for breakfast and cooking with salted butter. This seems to have helped quite a bit so far. This may or may not work for you and it depends on what you are doing, but I'd keep an eye on your sleep and you bowel movements and test different ratios of fat/protein/plant foods to see what helps your system feel and function the best. I also found that drinking a lot of water helped me, I gather toxins are stored in fat to isolate them from the organs so if you are losing weight you may find you are detoxifying too, which will make you feel bad and water helps with. Really, I think the name of the game is listening to your body and conducting experiments to see what works for you as opposed to what someone says is "correct" online...while at the same time listening to good sources of information and making your own conclusions.
