Object found in Horizon Milk

I found what appeared to be the tip of a latex/plastic glove with something red in the tip in a half gallon of Horizon DHEA milk. I had just opened it. After speaking with a customer complaint person who basically said that it was impossible for anything to get into the milk, and offering me $15, I called the FDA. They said that they do not investigate individual's requests for testing and I should get it done myself. However, I was unable to find a laboratory that would perform the required tests to determine if there was blood or latex present. I recontacted Horizon and they said to send them the item, which I had transferred to a plastic bag. The liquid in the bag had now turned pink as it was dissolving the red tip. Horizon sent me a Fed Ex package and I sent it off. After speaking to them today they said that they only received liquid and nothing else and they don't analyze liquid from an open carton of milk. How did they expect to examine the item if I didn't open the carton??? DO NOT BUY ANTHING FROM HORIZON OR DEAN FOODS.They are not concerned about their customers' health! If that blood was from an individual with AIDS or Hep C the outcome could be devastating!

I don't know if anyone else ever looks on Cornucopia's Site, but Horizon rates a zero! http://www.cornucopia.org/dairysurvey/index.html

Human blood is totally paleo. Just count the milk as a cheat.

As soon as I read that they told you to send it to them, I though "I hope you took pictures, because they're going to disappear that sample." You're doing exactly the right thing...spreading the word about what happened and how they acted. Sheesh...with the internet, facebook, tweeting and whatever, you think these companies would learn not to be such buttheads.

I'm sorry you had this experience. Horizon is a horribly unethical company all the way around IMO so this story does not surprise me in the least.

Great to know! I am going to stop buying their butter. I once found a small fish (dead of course!) in my local dairy's milk. They also said it was impossible for the fish to have gotten in due to their 'triple filtration' system. They offered me free milk too! Your story is much worse! UGH!
