What is the fate of dietary fat and protein we eat?

When we eat carbohydrates, they have three possible fates:

  1. broken down to glucose and burned for energy while in the plasma
  2. stored as glycogen in the muscle
  3. converted to and stored as fat (in adipose tissue) by the liver

What happens to the fats and proteins we consume?

And how is this affected by consuming or not consuming carbohydrates at the same time?
