view on fat burners like roxylean or oxyelite

I have just recently found Paleo and am excited to try this type of eating. I have done so many things in my life from weight watchers and south beach to juice fasts. I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and have gained 40 lbs, I am 31!!!! I workout on average of 3-4 days a week. I was wondering what the view is on thermogenics or fat burners. I wondered if they are frowned upon since they aren't natural.

Just being honest. Not everyone likes that. If you haven't researched Ephedra, your opinion has no merit in this case. This entire question falls outside the scope of PH, I answered with the most appropriate response.

Might have been the "fat housewife" remark. But, then again, it could be that it's because your answer falls outside the scope of paleo.

I assume the downvote was because someone uneducated was angry that I'm not buying into the anti-Ephedra propaganda?

Some are legit, some aren't. The fake ones are better than the real, at least they are only placebos getting you up and moving. The legit ones have risks. At the best they are serious stimulants and addiction is possible, as are adrenal fatigue type issues with prolonged use. You are artificially jacking up your metabolism, usually via adrenaline.

It takes time to lean out. I'd give it time and try to be patient.

Why pay for a "fat burner" when you already have one. It's called "you". If you want to lose weight and improve your physical and mental health, you've come to the right place.
The first thing you need to do is educate yourself, because there just aren't too many doctors out there who are hip to going paleo. Read read read....both here and some other sites.

Mark's Daily Apple is a very user friendly site for beginners. Read it. Follow the "rules". Lower your carb intake. Raise your fat intake. Your body will find its natural weight in a matter or months. It's very simple.

Good luck. You can do it.

The old ECA stack, which all current manufacturers try to mimic, bumped BMR up about 5%. So about 200kcals a day. So best case scenario is that you'll drop less than two pounds of fat per month...

But that is only half the equation. The real reason the ECA stack or any "fat burners" work is they lowered ghrelin, a hunger stimulating hormone. In other words these pills helped people stick to their diets and that is where any real weight loss came from.

I've talked to 100s of people that have taken Oxy and Roxy. Oxy is by far the more popular supplement. About half the people like it (a lot) and other half either had adverse reactions (jitters, insomnia, migraine, extreme fatigue) or it did nothing for them.

Get your diet and exercise in check first that is where all the real work is done. If you must, although I really don't think it's necessary, grab a bottle of Oxy locally and make sure the store has a good return policy....

High-oil cinnamon and cayenne are both thermogenic. Cheap, too.

I have a friend that uses those, from what he tells me they will do you a disfavor on the Paleo diet.

He told me that if he eats a decent amount of fat it just passes right through him (he nearly shits himself)

Paleo is contains a lot of healthy fats and I dont think those pills will be able to determine what a healthy fat is.

Besides you already have a perfectly good fat burning machine... Your body :)

Sounds unnecessary, wasteful and unhealthy.

NOTHING beats the ECA (Ephedra - Caffeine - Aspirin) Stack. Unless you're a fat housewife that overdoses on diet pills, Ephedra is actually quite safe. It's a stimulant obviously, so it's only natural that it increases your heart rate, but then again so does exercise or giving a presentation in front of people.

Unless the US legalizes Ephedra again, I wouldn't even waste my time with diet pills.
