# eating a steak everyday really bad for you and how much protein?

Hi everyone,

First I want to thank everyone for answering my previous questions. I am a newbie and want to know if I did eat steak everyday is it really bad for me. (I get grassfed beef) If I cant get grassfed beef would it be better not to eat beef at all?

Also I weigh 110 pounds, do I eat around 110g of protein? or is that to much? How much fat should I have? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get my health back.

Thank you! I think since I have been eating processed foods since I was young and been told all my life to eat the recommended about of servings on the food pyramid, I am confused on how much protein to really eat, as well as fat and carbohydrates.

I've heard that some people, men especially, are genetically predisposed to high iron. Do you remember where you heard about it being a widespread problem in the US?

I've heard that lots of people in the US have too much iron, especially men and post-menopause women. A simple solution is to give blood regularly (which is good in its own right, obviously).

Just remember that 110 grams of *steak* doesn't = 110 grams of *protein.* To figure out how much of it is protein, you could weigh the portion and put the total ounces into one of the free softwares out there and get the protein content.

I was eating a steak almost every day(grass fed), felt amazing. Now I'm on a side of pastured pork, ham steaks for a few months!

About the grassfed steak everyday. If that's what you like, go ahead.

About the amount of protein and fat: The best advice I got when I started this diet was to not stress (or even care) about macronutrient ratios. Eat nutritious food that you cook yourself and be mindful when you eat it: Don't eat in front of the TV, a book, your laptop... Be aware of what you eat and stop eating when your not hungry anymore. That's before you're full.

sure you can eat up to a pound of red meat a day for your bodyweight, but i'd say maybe half that for food variety reasons. self-experiment to see how you feel on higher or lower amounts of protein.

I wonder, if you did eat steak everyday, how long it would last. Probably you would eventually get tired of steak? Is there any macro food that people eat every single day? I personally get bored and eventually switch to something else.

It's bad for your wallet - but that's relative.

Is it bad for you? Not so much.

You may get a little burned out.

For your bodyweight, I would avoid exceeding 1gm/pound of bodyweight. 1 pound of ribeye would be around 90gm - 110gm (IIRC) of protein.

How much steak everyday? Nothing's wrong with steak per se. I eat it often, just not huge portions of it everyday.

Some folks argue that too much protein is correlated with shorter lifespan and that only adequate protein should be eaten. For example the Perfect Health Diet, or Dr. Kwasnewskis Optimal Diet.

Eating a grassfed steak everyday is nothing but beneficial unless you have like, hereditary hemachromatosis. Obviously the grassfed is preferential, but conventional meat beats a bowl of pasta any day. That amount of protein is fine as long as you feel alright with it. I think fat/carbohydrate intake can vary widely, even on a day-to-day basis, so just eat real, whole food and don't attempt to reach any arbitrary macronutrient goals.
