Daily intake of fat...in grams? Also, some good protein snacks?

Eating Paleo we are frequently told to keep carbs low (aim for under 150 g. a day for maintenance, under 100 g for steady loss, under 50 for extreme fat loss, etc. etc) and aim for .7-1.0 g of protein per pound of body weight (I'm 155...so should get about 109 g. daily) but how much fat, in grams, is recommended?

Also, while calculating my protein I realized I'm coming up a little short. What are some good protein snacks that arent jerky (b/c of the soy sauce in it & I cant use the oven to dry meat for hours upon hours wit 3 roomies :P) or protein bars? Im always on the run (Classes/Job...you know the college deal) so I cant ALWAYS cook...so maybe something pre-packed, but not too Paleo-offending?

Sorry, I don't measure so all I can say is "fat is the rest" of my food. I always make sure what I eat is yummy with fat but I don't really eat fat straight other than cream in my coffee or cheese now and then. I just eat enough fat to make the protein taste great and go down smoothly.

Assuming you want a 2000 calorie intake. 100 grams of carbohydrate will get you 400 calories, 100 grams of protein will also get you 400 calories, to complete the balance 1200 calories you will need 133 grams of fat.

I am just providing the macro nutrient math - not suggesting that you should eat 2000 calories, or more, or less.

Lara Bars are a great paleo-on-the-go option. They are the least processed of all the bars I've found (simply smashed dates, fruit and nuts). They're certainly not 'protein-packed' but you can opt for the ones with a higher nut/fruit ratio so you get more protein and less sugar.

Beware protein bars. All of those bars are made with whey protein, soy protein, gelatin, or textured vegetable protein. ALL of those ingreidents contan processed free glutamic acid. The "g" in msg. Excitotoxins are addictive and cause various body failures. Your body produces all the glutamic acid it needs which is the chemical that fires off between brain cells, to put it simply. And when youg eat glutamic acid that has been freed from it's chain, it enters your brain and causes the nerves to fire constantly untill it kills the cell. Also, it causes your pancreas to produc 3 times more insulin than it should whcih in turn drops your blood sugar and stores it as fat. Scientists know this because they use msg to make rats overweight is experiments that require fat rats.

An easy way to add protein is with Gelatin. I use Great Lakes Collagen Hydrolysate.

There are plenty of paleo beef jerky products that are soy free. for example.

Nuts and seeds??if you can tolerate them.?? A handful of raw almonds or other nuts will keep you going for a bit.?? Pudding made from chia seeds, nuts/other seeds, coconut milk, maybe a little honey for flavour.?? Mix together a batch, divide into small containers and stick in your fridge overnight.?? Voila! Pudding for the next few days ...?? Chia seeds will expand to make the pudding thick.??

Whole Foods and other grocery stores have jerkey made from beef, salmon, ahi tuna, and other proteins.  Not especially cheap but it keeps and stores well.

I am not a big fan of protein shakes and supplements in general, but I have whey protein shakes after workouts, I mix them 2/3 whey protein and 1/3 dried coconut milk.  This is an easy way to get 20-30g of protein.  Be careful to avoid soy protein and various fillers that come with most protein shakes.  I buy whey protein in bulk from Amazon.

As sage_ said, sardines and hard boiled eggs are great too. Eggs have almost equal amounts of fat and protein, sardines closer to 1:2 fat:protein (I get them canned with olive oil). Sardines are very nutritious too, loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, iron and potassium. They obviously keep well in the cupboards and are quick and easy to eat.

Well if you are eating 109g of protein that is about 436 calories. If you eat about 100 g of carbs that is 400 calories.

If you want a basic 65% fat diet, then it should be 2389 calories from fat, or 265 g of fat.

If you want lower fat, like 50% calories from fat, then you would eat about 1672 calories of fat or 185.7 g of fat
