Bacon Explosion

My friend suggested I make a Bacon explosion:

2 pounds bacon, thick sliced 2 pounds sausage (italian, breakfast, sage. Whichever you prefer) 1 cup cheddar cheese (finely shredded) 2 whole green onions (thinly sliced) 4 cloves garlic (minced) 1 jar barbecue rub (your favorite brand) 1 bottle barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)

Has anyone tried this?

The bacon and sausage I buy is quite high quality. Get out of the chain supermarkets and buy from growers.

Then you are not buying food from the right place -- like a farm.

But cheese is Primal ... and you can easily find high quality bacon (plus it gets the Chris Masterjohn stamp of approval) ... make your own BBQ sauce as JayJay comments ...

Barbeque sauce is not necessarily non-Paleo. If you use clean ingredients and don't go for the nasty Kansas City HFCS crap. The cheese is non-Paleo, but it is Primal.

YES. It shouldn't have to be spelled out in every recipe to pick ingredients without crap. Derrrr.

OK...I see a couple newer posters poo pooing this. I understand some of the trepidation, but after you've been eating this way a while it kinda goes without saying that you "paleoize" the dish. That means best sourced meat you can afford and homemade ingredients that don't have wheat, soy, excess sugar/HFCS....and so on. This dish is actually quite easily made paleo.

At first I was 'ewwww' and then I saw the pictures/recipe and I was like-- time to go shopping for bacon and sausage....

I don't really approve of the BBQ sauce though. Tomato paste and homemade ketchup = sugar!

This is really un-paleo. Cheese is not paleo and I generally frown on eating a lot of bacon and sausage because they tend to be low quality meats with unhealthy additives.
