Am I eating too much protein?

I'm having an issue with regulating my protein intake. My fat / protein ratio is generally good about 60 / 20 but some days up to about 60 / 25 with the remainder being carbs. Really depends on how many veggies I eat in a day.

But my protein still is around 100g a day which I know is FAR FAR TOO HIGH. .8 x my mass in kg is about 50. I think this is why I'm not losing weight.

So I'm eating twice as much protein as I need... but most of it is from things like steak, eggs, etc. Also items HIGH IN PROTEIN. I cook veggies in coconut oil or ghee, but that doesn't help much as its only a table spoon or two.

How do you get more fat instead, without resorting to just ingesting spoonfuls of butter or coconut oil (which is kind of icky all by itself).

Sounds just like what I eat. Eggs, bacon, veg in the mornings. Something meaty for lunch and dinner with veg on the side all cooked in ghee. SCALE ISN'T MOVING!! AUGH.

20-25% protein seems VERY reasonable... You may be overanaylyzing. Relax, and enjoy the ride!

I was told for women its .8 x kilogram, not pound. Mainly its because I'm still not losing weight and I absolutely must diagnose the cause.

why is 100g too high? One gram per pound of bodyweight is a good easy rule to follow or aim for. I myself shoot for 2 grams per pound and feel fine, function well, etc.

A few suggestions: eat lots of butter. I don't eat it plain, but I put it on nearly everything, including steak.

If something doesn't taste better with butter, perhaps it will taste better with cream sauce unless you're avoiding dairy (we had steak with mushroom cream sauce just last night, it was quite good).

You can also pour heavy cream over berries, or add some to coffee.

If you like them, fatty bacon, avocado, and occasional nuts are all good.

Buy fattier cuts of meat.

Some pat??s have a very good fat/protein ratio, plus they get some liver in your diet.

And I buy a very fatty (grass fed) ground beef and drape it with bacon to make meatloaf; I also use it to make chili, which I cook with a few roasted marrow bones in the pot to get more fat & nutrients.

For my part though, I found my carb intake much more important than my protein intake vis a vis losing weight, and once I hit a plateau, I really had to start counting calories to lose the last few pounds.

I know most people on here love their meat n eggs, but 100g protein is too much for me too. So if you reduce your meat portion you gotta make the calories up somewhere, right? What I do is deglaze the pan I cooked my meat in and make a pan sauce w/some extra fat in it to pour over my meat, and I also have a small to moderate serving of starch on the side (also w/fat on it). If you don't want to have the starch, you can also just add an extra nonstarchy veggie side dish either cooked or tossed w/fat.

Hmm 100G of protein does not sound like a lot...That's like eating two pieces of steak each day...or or 3/4 of a chicken each day...

Then again I'm 6'3...weight 255 and even I'm leaning out a bit on 150-300G of protein each day. I'm not losing a lot of weight, but waist line is getting smaller...so I'm seeing body comp changes

What are your vitals? Height? Current Weight? Goal Weight? Are you seeing body comp changes?

How about avocado or coconut for fat that you can eat as part of a meal? I like to buy organic unsweetened coconut flakes and munch on them.

I actually do better with more protein, I like to stay between 75-100 grams per day. If I go too low I get lethargic. Everyone is different though.

Just a reminder, that if you switch things up and lower your protein to promote weight loss, please give it 3-4 weeks before you decide it is not working and change to another protocol. Sometimes it takes your body awhile to catch up to the changes.
