Hi all, just curious as to what the difference of GREEN juice fasting (no fruits) versus fat fasting...? Would it provide the same fat loss results? I've heard great things about people doing juice fasts and keeping the weight off long term as long as their diet afterward was something nutritious and not SAD. (assuming something like paleo would do the trick). I want to lose some weight for an event coming up in a month but the fat fasts make me nauseous. I know I can lose weight just eggs, raw veggies, salads, meat and avocado, coconut oil/butter, but it takes like 5 months to lose 25 pounds. Which I know is more worth it, but i'm just curious to this whole vegetable juicing thing. Has anyone juice fasted before and kept the weight off strict paleo?

Juice fasting IMO is pointless and it tastes gross. I tried it for 5 days, lost quite a lot of weight. I put it back on in a week. I was anyway eating strict paleo at that time just wanted to experiment. Eventually did lose the excess weight gradually and it has been so easy to maintain.
Don't juice fast, 25 pounds in 5 months is great. Be patient, losing a few pounds will not make that much of a difference for the event. Plus the juice fast could back fire and you might binge.
Anyway this is my take on it, if you want to do the fast go ahead. It is not easy and neither is it healthy.

For events happening in the near future, Spanx and spa treatments will get you better results than a juice fast. Even if you do lose a bit of weight, it takes a long, long time for the skin to reel back in, and the extra jiggle can just look like more fat.
Eating well will give a glow that will draw people in regardless of your overall BMI. Being on a restrictive diet will just make you grumpy, spacey, and tired, which I'm guessing isn't the air you want to project at the event.
Doing pushups right before the event will give your arms extra tone for about 4 hours. Plank exercises, pilates, or crunches right beforehand can give you better posture too, just standing up straight easily takes the look of 10 lbs. off.

I'm on day 3 of a juice fast. It's easy. But make sure you have predominantly green vegetable juice. It fills you up for longer and has less sugar than pure fruit juices so you don't get a slump afterwards. Also try and keep your red and green ingredients separate otherwise your juice will be a brown colour which isn't as appetising as a beautiful red or green juice. Half a peeled lemon or lime cuts through the vegetable juice to make it more delicious, mint is really good, celery and cucumber are very mild and take other flavours well eg mint, apple or citrus. I don't know how it will be after the juice fast with weight gain but I suspect like everything it depends how good the diet you're returning to is and the amount of exercise you take. Generally half the plate filled with raw vegetables with minimal dressing is good, NO soda - just water or herbal tea and at least a 20 minute walk each day should see you right. And my own fail safe weight loss tip is to keep the tv turned off - its a time waster, an eating prompter and dumbs people down! Good luck!

Firstly, unless you have a great diet which is a "just part of my life" as soon as you get done with whatever extreme weight loss thing you do it will just come back and because of muscle loss you will gain back more.
I did 1 month of PSMF after I hurt my shoulder and couldn't lift for a while just to be productive and it was miserable and hard but ultimately effective with 20lbs of fat loss in 1 months. For all that I did lose some muscle still.
If you do something retarded like water fasts you will lose muscle. If you juice fast you will compound the damage as you will kick yourself out of ketosis and be stuck in a sugar burning mode. Green juice fast...you'll be doing a water fast while wasting lots of veggies your body doesn't need.
Just get on a good, healthy Paleo diet. Keep your protein at 30-40% of calories and lift weights 3x a week and you will drop plenty of weight and develop a lifestyle that is sustainable.
