Height 5'6", weight 168. I could stand to lose 10 pounds, but weight loss is not my first priority, my health is. I have a lot of muscle.

So yesterday felt like the "perfect" paleo day. I had 4 meals of protein and veggies..a few berries in the morning, was never hungry and ate as much as I thought I could. I had energy ALL day, walked to work, worked hard, then walked home. Walked a total of 8 miles. Cooked dinner. Went to bed by 11 got 8 hours of awesome solid sleep. Woke up hungry but energetic.

My total carb intake was a little higher than normal yesterday, most days it hits 100, because I LOVE green veggies and eat a lot of them. I feel better when I eat veggies, although I know not all paleo folks do.

I have history of high blood sugars and it has been steadily coming down with diet change and exercise. Been paleo for 2 months, most mornings FBS is at or just under 100 and steadily falling. When I woke up this morning my fasting was 120, higher then its been in a long time.

This has happened before, higher blood sugars the morning after a lot of exercise (blew a 150 the morning after a 30 mile bike ride).

So my question is: Is this okay? Should I not worry about the small fluctuations while overall I am getting better? Is there something I could eat the day of exercise to help my body recover and what would that be? More Protein or Carb? Should I FORCE myself to eat more calories even though I am eating to my own hunger cues? Part of me wants to ditch the blood sugar monitor all together and let my body work it out.

Thanks for any ideas...

In other words, all the other days that I eat berries my next morning fasting BS isn't high. Did that make sense?
