Yes, you are paleo. Maybe your cousin is WAPF. But your sister is vegan. Your mom is lacto-ovo vegetarian. Your mother-in-law is a Weight Watchers fiend, while your father-in-law's eating style may best be summed up as "7-11". Your brother eats anything and everything that's put in front of him, while your other brother is raw fruitarian. And finally, your grandma is gluten-free and sugar-free, but not grain-free.
...tell me folks...does your family win the prize for the most ways of eating in one group? How on earth do you make it through a family reunion?
Colorful stories blatantly solicited! :-D

My family members can't stand to be in the same room together. So, this is totally made up.
My mom would organize the whole thing and serve up every recipe Paula Deen ever came up with. She would hover over each person and force them to take bites of everything. We will oblige because she WILL cry if you don't. She, however will not touch any of it due to her self diagnosed gluten/chocolate/dairy/egg/fat allergies. She will drink wine instead.
My husband will stick around the grill not because he adheres to any sort of diet, but because that's where the meat is at.
My mother in law will smile pleasantly the whole time, but hang out in the outskirts because the foul smell of frying flesh will be an assault to her vegetarian senses.
My older brother will drink his meal and my younger brother will eat Lucky Charms out of a large plastic cup.
I will do the dishes and stay out of the way.

My Paternal grandparents are always on a fad diet as my grandmother, who's 70 is in pretty good shape but has some arthritis and my grandfather gets fatter and fatter every year. Right now they're on a low carb diet based around whey protein shakes and vitamins. Ughhh!!! Fortunately my grandmother has always thought sugar was poison... if only I could get her on paleo and to give up the whole wheat.
My maternal grandparents would be eating low fat processed "health food," lots of vitamins, cheap CAFO meat, and cookies/ dark chocolate.
My Mom eats WAPF
My dad eats one of those stupid diabetes diets where it's mostly 80% paleo but he still eats pasta and "light" bread with peanut butter on it for breakfast. blech. He's thin but has exzema, is a former alcoholic, has diabetes, and won't friggin listn to my sister and I when we tell him about how going Paleo changed our lives. Oh well!
My sister is Paleo except she cheats with sugar
My little brother is in college and eats taco bell, but then has a farm share and gets grassfed meat, eggs and veggies a few times a week too. hahaha
I have a few aunts and uncles who are always on south beach or cheating on SAD
Then my husbands family... all Russian Jewish immigrants cooking everything in sunflower oil, eating tea with cookies every afternoon and evening, eating weird fiber-one bars, low fat chicken breast, and strange salads drenched in sour cream or mayonaise and wondering why they are all riddled with diabetes and auto-immune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, schleroderma, and Alzheimers. Yet they brag about how their great grand parents all lived until 100 (and were, of course, eating traditional Moldavian kosher cuisine which is basically meat, potatoes, fresh dairy, seafood and ferments.)

My sister is an Ornish pescatarian.
My step brothers are always doing Atkins.
My daughter and nieces are typical SAD eating kids.
My mom thinks she cooks healthy, but doesn't.
My MIL likes frozen Marie Calendars.
My FIL has a bizarre diet he concocted to rid himself of migraines, but it's not working and he won't listen to me.
My husband doesn't really like food and only eats because he has to.

Gram is 92 and only likes sugar these days. Who am I to argue with 92? Daddy-o has a stent, statins and is strictly on the no fat diet plus and a BIG glass of Napa Zin. SIL, no pork, no gluten, but plenty of "healthy" Agave syrup treats. Bro eats everything just needs to eat less of all of it. Me Paleo Friends, are Vegan, Vegetarian, with various restrictions, heavy on the soy and grains. Suffice it to say the idea that we could all get together and eat is pretty unlikely. Mostly each faction brings and eats their own food whenever we are together for a meal.
