Not hungry after a workout, RAVENOUS the next day

Let me begin with what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: 5 oz 4% cottage cheese

Lunch: 8 oz applegate chicken breast, 1 packet of sea snax seaweed

Snack: 12 oz of 4% cottage cheese

Exercise: Softball practice, included sprinting the bases in the hot weather for around 15 mins nonstop.

Snack: ~4 oz full fat plain yogurt with homemade protein bar of dates, prunes, almonds, & cocoa powder

Exercise: 60 min Extreme Endurance class (sprinting, quick feet, lunges, push ups, squats, high knees, butt kicks, abs exercises... a few minutes on, a minute or two off, pretty intense, I sweat a lot) [Was pretty tired after softball, probably would've skipped the class if I hadn't already committed to go with a friend]

Dinner: Sweet potato homefries (about 1 medium sweet potato), 1 cup lentils, 1.5 oz chicken A little later... 1 large sweet potato (360 g before cooking) with a tsp of coconut oil

I woke up without any hunger, and then a half an hour later... BAM. Starving. Ate 1 cup of full fat yogurt mixed with 3 spoonfuls of raisins and a few squares of 85% chocolate. Was having such a sugar craving. Still hungry after. Currently eating a chicken breast with lentils. Still hungry. Craving sugar again. What gives?!

What gives? I was hardly hungry last night, had to make myself eat more. Now I can't stop! Is this psychological? I want to say no since my belly is rumbling.. Should I just keep eating, as long as its safe foods? My body seems to want sugar and carbs right now...

Disclaimer: I know dairy and legumes are not strict Paleo, but I seem to do fine with them. I don't eat them daily, it just happened that they were what was in the house.

It's a hormonal response primarily cortisol and adrenaline. Fight or flight dictates that when your body is under sufficient stressyou lose appetite. If you decrease your workout intensity then you should feel more like eating pwo.

Happens to me all the time. I'll do a super hard workout and be like "eh, I could eat I guess..." and then the next day I'm like "GIVE ME ALL THE STEAK. ALL OF IT. RIGHT NOW." I think it makes sense since you don't gain strength from exercising (tearing down muscles); you gain strength from rebuilding the muscles stronger than they were before, which has to happen on your rest days. So it's logical that your body would want more food on the days when it has the heavy construction work to do. I wouldn't worry about it; just make sure your food quality is good.

There are many benefits to fasting post workout anyway so dont worry, also dont be afraid of fat, full fat cottage cheese and replacing dry chicken breasts with something like a juicy steak is just fine

I'm hungrier on rest/recovery days too. I just go with it and eat a bit more on those days instead of workout days.
